Overview

Shenanigans is a charming, traditional Irish bar nestled on Osborne Road in Southsea. It is cherished by locals for its unique decor, extensive live sports coverage, and lively ‘Sunday Funday’ music nights.

Food & Drink

While Shenanigans is renowned for its exceptional pint of Guinness, their expertise doesn’t stop there! They also offer an impressive selection of draught and bottled beers.

Shenanigans is also famous for its hangover-busting breakfast, featuring meat sourced from Buckwell’s, the local butcher.

History

In 2008, after retiring from the Royal Navy, Iain Kirby embarked on a new venture. Embracing his Irish roots, he converted an abandoned estate agent shop into a cozy Irish pub, aiming to create a warm and inviting atmosphere reminiscent of a “big living room.”

Despite losing significant revenue during the pandemic, Shenanigans underwent a transformation in 2022, upgrading its equipment and bringing in new team members.

In January 2024, escalating business costs forced Iain to shut the doors, seemingly for good. This unexpected closure stunned the community, leading to an overwhelming show of support on the pub’s Facebook page. However, by early February, Paul Tracey had taken the reigns, reviving Shenanigans with new energy and enthusiasm.
